Welcome to a New Year of Practice
Welcome to begin the new year with a weekend dedicated to deepening your practice and your understanding of the different dimensions of yoga.
The Theme of the Weekend
Karma & Dharma – Action, Direction and the Path of Yoga
What does it mean to live in alignment with your dharma? How are we shaped by our actions (karma), and how can yoga help us act with greater clarity and awareness?
Throughout the weekend, we will explore two central concepts in yoga philosophy: dharma and karma. Drawing on the Bhagavad Gītā, we will explore how our choices and actions shape us, and how we can develop our ability to discern what is true and meaningful for us.
Dharma is not simply about what we do, but about direction – about living and acting in harmony with what is true and meaningful. Karma reminds us that every action has consequences and invites us to explore questions of responsibility, intention, and our relationship to the results of our actions.
Through philosophy, conversation and practice, we will bring these questions into our own lives and yoga practice.
How can we act without becoming attached to the outcome? What influences our choices? And how can yoga help us see more clearly and live with greater awareness?
This workshop is for anyone who wishes to deepen both their practice and their understanding of yoga philosophy, and to explore how yoga can extend beyond the mat and into everyday life.
The Weekend
Mornings: Ashtanga Yoga Mysore. Everyone practices according to their own level and receives individual guidance and support in the postures.
Afternoons: Philosophy and discussion focusing on karma and dharma through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gītā. We explore how these philosophical perspectives can be understood and integrated into our own lives.
We will also deepen our exploration of pranayama, discovering how different breathing practices can help quiet the mind and create a deeper connection with ourselves.
On the final day, we will share breakfast in the shala after the morning practice, with homemade sourdough bread, energy shots, porridge, smoothies and other delicious treats.
Tarot Reading
During the weekend, there will also be an opportunity to book an individual tarot reading with Rosie Hennig.
Tarot can be a tool for reflection and for gaining new perspectives – a way of turning inward and exploring the questions that are present in your life.
More information about times and bookings will be available closer to the workshop.
